Product Technician

We are looking for someone to assemble, test, configure, sound/quality check, inspect and pack products/units effectively, and to the specified quality standards for onward shipment to customers for a company based just outside Cambridge.

Responsibilities

* Assemble, test, configure, inspect and pack all products/units effectively, and to the specified quality standards for onward shipment to customers
* Assist with prototype building and new build procedures
* Liaise with Production Manager or Senior Workshop Technician to ensure works orders are started/completed in line with company procedures and timescales
* Sound electro-mechanical assembly skills, the operator should be comfortable with chassis, wiring, PCB installations
* PC literacy as products will require software installing and assembly data capturing
* Comfortable in the use of crimp tools, wire strippers, electric hand tools and soldering stations
* Production of manuals and documentation, remote control assemblies and service kits as and when required
* Inspect parts, assemble kits and test when required
* Identifying process improvement areas
* Write SOPs and procedures
* In house problem solving and fault diagnosis of built units
* Fault finding to board level
* Modifying (PCB at SMT level and Wire working)
* Recording of faults (written and electronic)

Requirements

* Skilled in the use of hand tools and be experienced with crimping and wire forming standards;
* Basic electronic understanding and good component identification skills
* Good understanding of ESD precautions and now to apply ESD knowledge in production environment
* Able to follow written or verbal instruction and produce high quality results from that instruction
* PC literacy and be comfortable using Excel, Word, Outlook and internal MRP systems to a basic level
* The employee should also have good communication skills to liaise with team members, other departments and customers as and when required as well as the ability to document procedures
* A positive "Can do" attitude is imperative
