Cambridge has been named one of the most desirable places to live in the UK, in a list published two days ago by The Telegraph.
Using data compiled by estate agents Savills, the list scored towns and cities based on a number of criteria, including the proportion of residents holding managerial level jobs, level of qualifications, state of their health and the cost of buying a house.
Cambridge ranked 16th on the overall list of 50 towns and cities, rising from 30th place in 2011. The only place in Cambridgeshire to make the top 50, Cambridge has an average house price of £475,000.
The Telegraph noted Cambridge for its world-renowned university, as well as its 31 colleges, including King's College with its famous choir and iconic chapel. The city was also cited as a popular tourist destination with its stunning architecture and beloved River Cam punting tours.
The Telegraph described Cambridge as "a world-class science and tech hub with well-paid and well-educated professionals in its wake". Ed Meyer, Head of Residential Sales, Cambridge at Savills, described Cambridge as the "perfect small city".
