Stores Controller / Quality Inspector

We are looking for someone with a stores management background for a company based just outside Cambridge to manage their inbound supply of products to achieve quality targets, ensuring quality failures are tracked and dealt with as soon as possible using company systems.

Responsibilities

* Ensure all inbound material is inspected and booked into the MRP system
* Liaise with Production and Purchasing Managers to determine efficient flow of inbound materials to warehouse
* Visit suppliers when necessary to inspect onsite or deal with potential issues, this will involve the use of the company van
* Ensure any reject material is dealt with promptly and corrective actions taken
* Issue cladding and assembly kits to production to enable production technician's to continually build units
* Undertake regular physical stock counts and ensure accuracy of MPR system and report discrepancies to the Purchasing manager
* Co-ordinate inbound materials to enable effective QQA / QC inspections to be performed
* Ensure quality performance is tracked through the MRP system, delivery progress is continuously monitored, and inbound quality is delivered in line with KPI's
* Maintain our continuous quality improvement programme
* Effective and efficient management of the Quality function within the MRP system
* Maintain appropriate KPIs to effectively monitor and develop the quality of incoming parts
* Ensure effective communications exist with other departments and suppliers at all times.
* Deliver or collect materials from suppliers when required using the company vehicle

Requirements

* Experience in a Storekeeping role within a manufacturing environment
* Competent use of MRP systems including data extraction and analysis to support Quality Management
* Skills in the use of Excel and/or Database programmes
* Experience in creating and maintaining KPI's necessary to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality function
* Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to use own initiative and work, where appropriate without direct supervision.
* Undertake training as required
* Adhere to and promote the organisation's policies, including Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
* Adhere to confidentiality and security of information at all times and in line with the Data Protection Act
* Experience of ISO 9001 quality procedures would be beneficial
* Hands on inspection experience of aesthetic and mechanical parts using Vernier's, gauges, etc
* Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Working knowledge/background in metal finishing processes, especially anodising processes
* Ability to embrace change, generating and stimulating new and innovative ideas
* Ability to work effectively and positively with colleagues
* Ability to effectively manage time and priorities for self and others so that the supply chain achieves maximum productivity
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic
* Ability to keep the goods-in and stores area clean, tidy and a safe environment for all to work in
